Biscuit and Gravy Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 can of refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 pound of breakfast sausage (I prefer spicy for an extra kick!)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of savory sausage gravy (store-bought or homemade)

Equipment Needed

  • A 9×13 inch baking dish
  • A large skillet
  • A mixing bowl
  • A whisk
  • A sharp knife or kitchen scissors
  • An oven

Step-by-Step Instructions

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). While that’s heating up, I love to brown my sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks, letting it get nice and brown. The smell of sizzling sausage is nothing short of heavenly! Once it’s cooked through, drain any excess grease and remove the skillet from heat. Then, take your biscuits and cut them into quarters—scissors make this task super easy for me. In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, whisking until well combined. Pour in the cooked sausage, and don’t forget there’s also sausage gravy to include! This step adds that creamy goodness every casserole needs. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
