Ingredients
- 2 cans of cinnamon roll dough
- 3 large apples (I prefer Granny Smith for that tartness)
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Extra cinnamon for sprinkling on top (optional)
Equipment Needed
- 9×13 inch baking dish
- Mixing bowls
- Spatula
- Whisk
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Rolling pin (optional for flattening dough)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Let’s start by preheating my oven to 350°F (175°C). While it warms up, I peel and slice the apples into thin wedges, tossing them in a bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, and half of the brown sugar. This mixture needs to marinate for a few minutes to absorb those lovely flavors. Meanwhile, I prepare my cinnamon roll dough by opening the cans and rolling out the dough slightly with a rolling pin. I cut the dough into strips about an inch wide, which will layer beautifully! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
