Ingredients
- 2 slices of your favorite whole-grain or sourdough bread
- 1 ripe avocado
- ½ cup cottage cheese (I love using regular, but feel free to try low-fat!)
- 1-2 tablespoons chili crisp (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: cherry tomatoes, radishes, or microgreens
Equipment Needed
- Toaster or oven for bread
- Mixing bowl
- Knife for slicing
- Spoon for scooping avocado
- Fork for mashing
- Small bowl for holding chili crisp
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start, I light up my trusty toaster and pop in those slices of bread. I usually go for whole-grain or sourdough, but honestly, any bread you have on hand will work! While my bread is toasting, I slice my ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl. It’s important to choose a perfectly ripe avocado; it should be slightly soft but not mushy. I mash it to my desired consistency. I personally like it a bit chunky for that added texture! And don’t forget to sprinkle a little salt and pepper while mashing, as it elevates the flavor beautifully. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
