- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Equipment Needed
- Large pot for boiling pasta
- Large skillet or frying pan
- Colander for draining pasta
- Bowl for mixing ingredients
- Tongs or pasta fork
Step-by-Step Instructions
First, let’s start by boiling the pasta. In my kitchen, I like to bring a large pot of salted water to a roaring boil. Once the water is bubbling, I add in my spaghetti (or linguine) and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. This usually takes about 8-10 minutes. When it’s ready, I make sure to reserve a cup of the pasta water – you’ll see why this is a crucial step later. Once drained, I set the pasta aside, keeping it warm.
