Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 slices of bread (your choice!)
- 2 cups shredded cheese (I love using cheddar or a blend!)
- Butter, for grilling
Equipment Needed
- Skillet or frying pan
- Spatula
- Mixing spoon
- Cheese grater (if using block cheese)
- Cooking plate or platter
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start, I heat a generous splash of oil or a pat of butter in my skillet over medium heat. Once it’s nice and hot, I add the chopped onions and garlic, letting them sauté until they become fragrant and translucent. It smells heavenly already! After that, I add in the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks; I season it with salt and pepper. This is where the magic begins to happen. Once the beef is browned and cooked through, I stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to meld those flavors together. The aroma alone will have you wishing you could dive right in! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
