Poor Man’s Husband Casserole

Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef (or turkey, if you prefer)
– 1 can cream of mushroom soup
– 1 cup uncooked white rice
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Shredded cheese for topping (optional)

Equipment Needed

– Large skillet
– 9×13 inch baking dish
– Mixing spoon
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Aluminum foil
– Oven mitts

Step-by-Step Instructions

To start, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, I cook the ground beef (or turkey) until it’s browned and crumbly. This is one of my favorite parts because the sizzling sound and aroma of the meat filling the kitchen is always inviting. Once the meat is browned, I add in the chopped onion and garlic, stirring until they soften, which takes about 3-4 minutes. Then, I mix in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
