Ingredients
- 8 large flour tortillas
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Equipment Needed
- Large skillet
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk
- 9×13 inch baking dish
- Grater (if shredding cheese)
- Spoon or spatula
Step-by-Step Instructions
First, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble the breakfast sausage and cook until it’s nicely browned. The scent of that sizzling sausage is about to take over your kitchen! Once it’s browned, remove half of it and set aside for later. Add the flour to the remaining sausage in the skillet and mix well, ensuring no lumps remain. Cooking the flour with the sausage adds a fantastic richness to your gravy. Stir in the milk gradually, allowing it to thicken into a creamy gravy. Don’t forget to season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I usually let it bubble and thicken for about 5 minutes. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
