– 1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
– 1 packet taco seasoning
– 2 cups shredded lettuce
– 1 cup diced tomatoes
– 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend works great)
– 1 cup nacho cheese or salsa
– 1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed)
– 1 bag of individual-sized corn chips (like Fritos)
– Optional toppings: jalapeños, sour cream, guacamole, chopped onions, and cilantro
Equipment Needed
– Large skillet
– Wooden spoon or spatula
– Serving bowls (if you’re not going with bags)
– Taco scooper (completely optional, but fun!)
– Can opener (for black beans)
Step-by-Step Instructions
To begin, I heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. I love the sizzle sound when the meat hits the pan—it’s music to my ears! Using a wooden spoon, I break the meat apart while it cooks. Once the meat is browned (about 6-8 minutes), I drain any excess grease if necessary, then sprinkle the taco seasoning over the meat. For an added burst of flavor, I also like to add a splash of water to help the seasoning combine beautifully. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
