Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
– 1 cup beef broth
– 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Olive oil for cooking
– Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Equipment Needed

– Large skillet
– Mixing bowl
– Spoon or spatula for stirring
– Baking dish
– Potato masher or electric mixer (for preparing mashed potatoes)

Step-by-Step Instructions

To start with, I heat a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, I add the chopped onions and sauté them until they become translucent, about 5 minutes. Then, I toss in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking everything together until the mushrooms are tender. The smell is absolutely heavenly and fills my kitchen with comfort! After that’s all cooked down, I add in the ground beef. I break it apart using my spatula and season it with salt and pepper as it browns. Once cooked through, I pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, letting this simmer for a few minutes to develop those robust flavors. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
