Ingredients
– 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (I like using Granny Smith for their tartness)
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– ½ cup packed brown sugar
– 1 cup vegetable oil
– 4 large eggs
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon cinnamon
– ½ teaspoon nutmeg
– ½ teaspoon salt
– 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Equipment Needed
– Mixing bowls
– Whisk
– Baking pan (9×13 inches works perfectly)
– Measuring cups and spoons
– Rubber spatula or wooden spoon
– Oven mit
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start off, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). While that’s warming up, I like to move on to prepping my baking pan by greasing it lightly with butter or cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vegetable oil. Whisk it all together until it’s well mixed and smooth. Next, add the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. The mixture should become a little fluffy! (See the next page below to continue steps…)
