Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

Ingredients

– 1 pound ground beef
– 8 ounces of chow mein noodles
– 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 1/2 cup soy sauce
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch
– 1 cup green onions, chopped
– Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment Needed

– Large skillet or wok
– Pot for boiling noodles
– Mixing bowl
– Cooking spoon or spatula
– Knife and chopping board

Step-by-Step Instructions

To start off, I cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes, and I can already smell that delicious reminder of a wok-fried meal. Once the noodles are done, I drain them, but I make sure to keep a little bit of pasta water on hand in case I need to loosen the sauce later. I then heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When it’s hot, I toss in the ground beef, breaking it apart and letting it sear until it’s browned and cooked through. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
