Ingredients
– 1 pound of fresh mushrooms, sliced (I love using a mix of cremini and shiitake for extra flavor)
– 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
– 1 tablespoon of olive oil
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1 cup of heavy cream
– 1 cup of Gruyère cheese, grated
– 1/2 cup of dried breadcrumbs
– 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Equipment Needed
– Skillet
– Oven-safe baking dish
– Mixing bowl
– Whisk
– Grater
– Wooden spoon
Step-by-Step Instructions
To start, I heat a skillet over medium heat and add some butter and olive oil. As the butter melts, I toss in the sliced mushrooms and sauté them until they’re beautifully golden and tender, which takes about 5-7 minutes. The earthy aroma fills my kitchen, making my mouth water! Next, I add the minced garlic to the mushrooms, cooking for an additional minute until it’s fragrant. Once that’s done, I transfer the mushrooms into a mixing bowl and set them aside for a moment. (See the next page below to continue steps…)
